Autumn in the garden

By Simon Kavanagh, Oct 8 2015 01:00PM

It's that time of year when it's time to consider putting your garden to bed but there is still PLENTY to do. In fact it's is a vitally important time to tidy things up and give your garden the best chance for success next year. Here's a few choice tasks to consider:

*Prune climbing roses

*Renovate old lawns or create new grass areas by laying turf (it really isn't too late!)

*Last chance to mow lawns and trim hedges

*Move tender plants indoors

*Cut back perennials that have died down

*Clear up fallen autumn leaves regularly and why not create your own leaf mould!

*Plan and plant bulbs for a succession of spring colour

*Order seeds for next year

*Divide herbaceous perennials and rhubarb crowns

*Harvest the last of the apples, pears, grapes and nuts

*Continue to mulch borders

It's also a great time to get planning wider-ranging landscaping projects to ensure your garden is fit for purpose next spring and summer. If you need assistance with any of the above give Greenspace a call :-)
